Efforts to heat hot springs by using a boiler that uses chaff as fuel together with kerosene have begun at “Dune Onsen Yumeron” in Mitane Town , Akita Prefecture . The surplus chaff can be effectively used, and it can be a countermeasure against global warming . “If it’s introduced in Akita, where a lot of rice is produced, and it becomes a model case in the future,” the people concerned expect.
